Sister Ruis gave us a language lesson today and we are excited to learn Marshallese.  We have learned some useful phrases, but now are working on learning the basics of the language.  All of the church meetings have been in Marshallese, so it would be nice to understand what is being said and converse without an interpreter.
Just the little bit of Marshallese that we speak to people brings huge smiles to their faces.  They are flattered that we are trying to learn their language and they have a sense of humor when we flub up!

Tonight we went to another convert baptism and it was a great experience; the converts told their story and bore their sweet testimonies.  These converts were taught by from Sister Ruis and Sister Howard.  The people here are very polite and humble, so they don’t slam their doors in the missionaries faces; they listen.  And because they listen, they become converted.  The church is growing quickly here and I am spending much of my day in the office entering the convert baptisms into the computer.  It is wonderful to see these special people receive the blessings of the gospel. They are so appreciative and sing with all of their hearts in the church meetings.

A temple trip is planned for May and many of the members are going to Hawaii to be sealed in the temple.  The church pays the plane fare for their first Temple trip.  Sister Christensen just finished teaching the Temple Prep. class and now she will be the one who escorts them to the Temple.  I hope I will know how to run everything in the office by the time she leaves for two weeks.

  1. It makes me happy thinking of the humble people there. You are so blessed to be having that experience! It also makes me happy to hear that the church pays for their plane fare so they can go to the temple for the first time. What a great opportunity for them!
