Today is our P day. I scrubbed the house and did wash this morning. Then I sprayed the apartment well with Permethrin to try to get rid of our cockroaches! We get up in the middle of the night and they are climbing around in the bathroom. I hope this treatment today will fix the problem. For the first time, this apartment smells good.
At 10:45 we left with Christensens to go to the Laura Carvival at the Laura ward building. It was a good look at the culture of the LDS people here. The young Elders were in charge of the carnival and they did a great job. It was amazing to me to see them all participate in the simple games-children and adults alike. The food was served in bowls that they wove from palm leaves. There was a lot of food: rice, fried fish, bread fruit, squash and some other kind of sea food. We left before the cake was served and I had to leave my glass cake dish there. I hope the missionaries got it for me because I would hate to lose that dish. They are really expensive here.
It was very hot (bwol) and because I forgot to apply sunscreen, I got a pretty healthy sunburn. I guess I will learn. I don’t have the dark skin to protect me from this relentless sun. It was so nice to spend a day outside with the beautiful scenery and people. Usually, most of our days are inside of the mission office.
Hi Barb,
ReplyDeleteJen says I should suggest that you put your pictures into the body of your blog posts. Then they won't get so long compared to the text. When you're on your dashboard making a new post, look just above your text box. There are a row of symbols - font, etc. There is one box that is a tiny picture - like a landscape. If you click on that, it lets you add pictures in the same space as the text you write, using pictures that are already on your computer files. You may already know this - just disregard this comment if you do. It sounds like an amazing place and the pictures are gorgeous. We heard that Frank and Annette Mills son died - that they are coming home for the funeral but going back afterward.
I've enjoyed reading about your experiences! Try boric acid (powder)if you can get it. It is an inexpensive effective way to deal with roaches.
