Thanksgiving 2011

This Thanksgiving was one to remember forever.  Sister Hilbourne, Sister Perkins and I cooked for two days and produced a rather marvelous feast if I don't say so myself.  President and Sister Shaw were in Tarawa, so we ran the show.  We were able to get all of the traditional foods (for a high price) but it turned out wonderful.  It was great to see the missionaries thourougly enjoy the feast.
After eating, we all sat in the Mission Home and watched the movie "Facing the Giants"  Everyone was really enjoying it when the power went off!  The senior Elders ran and got the generator from the Mission office and hooked it up.  We were able to watch the rest of the movie with the projector on the big screen and hardly even noticed that the power wasn't on until the room started getting really hot.  Just as the movie was ending, the power came back on.  "Facing the Giants" is a great movie; I hope all of my family will get it and watch it, including the grandkids.  It isn't an LDS film, but it has a powerful motivating message.
It would have been wonderful to spend Thanksgiving with all of my family, but since that wasn't an option, I am Thankful that I was able to spend it with all of these wonderful missionaries that I love. This is really a chance in a lifetime and I will be forever grateful for this experience.
Christmas might be a little bit harder.  It will be the first year that I haven't made pajamas for all of the grandkids and had a Christmas Eve Grandkids party.  I will really miss that.
